I certainly shall Dave ;D
I'll give Roy 24hours before firing off a follow-up call (I also need to nail the MGF Regsiter visit date!)

(I also need to nail the MGF Regsiter visit date!) Good point - if you can do it before the weekend I'll get it in Safety Fast.

Dave, the Techspeed visit is now looking likely to be on Thursday, 24th June... quite some time away - but certainly good idea to put it into Safety Fast!Roy's still waiting to hear back from his contacts at Longbridge - but mentioned your suggestion that they should bring their car along with Bruce's suggested modification to Silverstone for the Track Day... If we are going to make this happen, I think that we may need to give Roy and Marvin some gentle persuation!

That date is the day before Tim's next North Weald day - no real problem as there shouldn't be too much overlap - other than any of us! Roy's still waiting to hear back from his contacts at Longbridge - but mentioned your suggestion that they should bring their car along with Bruce's suggested modification to Silverstone for the Track Day... If we are going to make this happen, I think that we may need to give Roy and Marvin some gentle persuation! OK, I'll try to push a little. I have to call Marvin anyway.

nice little project this.
So just to recap
input 1 on. temp high..run fan input 1 off temp ok fan stop
input 2 on car running run pump input 2 off car stopped pump off
output 1 fan
output 2 pump
yes?
So then if you have a simple timer/overide circuit from the likes of maplin would this not do the trick?

Sorry Andy - you've lost me - not difficult As you can see this thread is a little old and things have changed since last March. Rob has some sort of circuit from Maplin bits following advice and guidance from Will Munns. I'm sure Rob will be along soon to explain it (simply please Rob then I might get it too!). Rob, Are Techspeed fitting the water pump to your car right now? What is the latest on the controller circuit from Will?

Andy, Dave, the update is that the car is currently up at Techspeed having the pump fitted, along with a few other little projects... Not quite sure where we got to on the installation - we're were waiting for Peter Knivett of totalMG to come along and cover the story (which would be good for the supplier of the water pump!) - will touch base tomorrow with Techspeed tomorrow. You might be seeing me in a ZTT diesel at the RR at this rate! Andy, Will Munns knocked up a very simple timing circuit using components from Maplins - so hopefully we're in business. I'd like to incorporate some kind of reporter light to indicate the pump's operation - thinking of using the redundant catalyst overheat lamp... Black/yellow wire on the instrument loom. Should be reasonably easy to do - if a little fiddly! Will hopefully have more to update soon Dave, have you got that IR sensor yet? If so, can you bring it on Saturday? ;D Cheers

Good news is that the car is ready for collection. I didn't get time to ask Keith whether the EWP had been successfully installed or not - but if I get to collect the car tomorrow, I guess I'll find out then! The problem may be that I won't get time to collect the car before the RR session however: we had a plumber in today who has successfully left us without mains water and the gas central heating appears to have stopped working. Yimmy and baby now at her mothers. Looks as though I am going to have fun when I get home this evening!

Just what you need in this weather Good luck - I do hope you get the car back tomorrow - the RR attendees are dropping like flies already! Tim, how are you getting on with your potential water pump problem? A small piece of good news - that temp gun arrived today - seems to work well.

I managed to repair the heating last night: the clots had managed to drill through the insulation of the thermostat control cable - causing the central heating fuse to blow. Replaced the fuse and made good a temporary repair on the cable, and we have warmth again! Water now back on. Unfortunately, this has meant spending the day at home: honestly, that's why I am paying a plumber - so I DON'T have to take time off work!!! We're not quite out of the woods yet... BUT I will be there tomorrow - whether in a ZTT or in the F I am not yet sure!

Glad to hear your warm!
About tomorrow - what's the latest plan? I presume the Swavesey visit is off, unless you've heard from Roger. So are we meeting at the A14 services later or still at 8am?
I imagine that there's some confusion since the various threads are all at different stages! Juts your luck everything happened right now!

Well, the EWP seems to be working well - but at present, it is difficult to know what it is doing. After chatting to Dave Walker's assistant (anyone recall his name? Agent Goldfish here, reporting for duty, Sah!) and from our observation using the IR probe of a rising temperature of the block just above the thermostat - I am wondering whether another water pump may be required to do this job properly - ie to run coolant through the radiator and thermostat? If the MEMS powers the radiator relay according to coolant temperature, this may not be all that hard to achieve... Yet another thing to consider. And if necessary, pushes the idea well beyond the realms of economic affordability

Rob
Did you get the latest TF coolant pipes and thermostate fitted?
If so have you noticed any difference in warm up mine takes longer to warm up but assume this is because coolant is constantly flowing.

Hi Tom, Well I did ask, but no it wasn't fitted. Getting hold of them remains tricky for some reason. Plus, I had this EWP fitted, so fitting the PRT would have complicated things somewhat... so "one thing at a time" common sense prevailed. Mind you, I can't help but think that this was Marvin doing be 'a favour' - the bill was already monstrous, and adding the PRT would have made it truely scarey!
