Sounds like a nicely developed car - that 154 lb.ft torque would make the car feel very nippy on the road, and give it plenty of 'overtaking' pace Bad news is that here, finally, is an MX-5 that'll trounce the TF160 Mind you, from what I heard from Don Kettleborough at MG Sport and Racing, there ought to be a more extreme MG TF - probably with forced induction - on its way in the next 12-18 months. Perhaps the appearance of a turbo MX will tip MGs hand and get them to bring the TF-MAX out sooner rather than later!!!

I've always had a soft spot for the MX-5.
I'll never sell the F but if I had to the MX-5 probably would be what I'd replace it for outside of the MG mark.
I liked the last generation of MR2's but I think the new ones look a bit cheap and plastic!

I rather like the Mk1 Elan-esque look of the original MX-5 - but not keen on the face lift version. But the interior on both manage to make the MGF's interior feel luxurious! I agree with you regarding the MR2. The interior on that car is truely horrid. Doesn't look at that clever either. But it is a terrific steer! For that level of practicality, my favoured steed would be a Lotus Elise S2...

I given serious consideration over the last couple of months to buying one but cant justify it. I'll need to wait till I can run two cars with the elise as the 2nd one. The MGF is impractical enough at the moment. I play a lot of gigs and I have to cart guitars and amps about in the F and I've managed to come up with some ingenious ways of doing it but the Elise just wouldnt allow this. In a few years though.......
