I can'ne believe it! Bad bad getting to work: fell asleep on the train this morning, and found myself in Kensington. Got to work a couple of minutes late for a meeting so I thought I'd take the front lifts- but they were all gone... so I decided to walk up the stairs, only to find that the security pass I have for the door at the top I'd lent to one of my work collegues! D'oh! So down a floor around to the back lift: but the up botton didn't work, so I ended up going down to the basement before getting up to the floor I wanted. Good news: meeting cancelled. So I turned on my Mac and BANG! The power supply blew out. Fortunately, my external harddrive has most of my most vital files backed up - and it still worked. Bad news is that I didn't back up last week!!! So all in all a bad start to the day. I've taken my Mac to pieces, and I'll shortly be on the phone to see if I can source a new power supply card from Macintosh... Just thought I'd off load here - happily I have access to another Mac - albeit one without all the files/programs I need!

Uh oh - sounds like one of those days - did I count five things - keep looking over your shoulder for number six. Hope it's not going to be so bad that it's three threes!

Tony, I count myself as a "Mac-ophile' But actually, the fact that I use a Mac at work is because historically, this academic department has always used Macs... Dave: I'll keep an eye out for problem #6!!!

The Mac probably sensed the ground in petrol, grime and oil from the Metro work we did on sunday Rob and went - "Eeeek! i'm too sensitive for this ruffian!"

I really didn't expect to be up to my neck in computer parts the day after I was up to my neck with car parts Andy! Dieter - Mac's are INVINCIBLE!!!! Problem is pretty much isolated to the power supply PCB. I going to canabilise a 'spare' iMac tomorrow (if the boss remembers to bring it in from home) and if the donor power supply works, we'll order another to repair the donor computer. Ah. What fun.

Yay! ;D Macintosh back together: I managed to scavenge another power supply PCB from a 'spare' Macintosh - so now I need to order a replacement for the computer that is currently sitting next to me in pieces. Perhaps I should give up my day job? Hmm - maybe not!!! Great news is that I've not lost any important data or documents: phew! what a relief! okay, back to do some work (now that I can!) ;D

>INVINCIBLE ... ?? Mate, let ME get hands on it However, seriously, my sons PC power supply *went* the other day. It took with to the "other side": Mainboard, Processor, Graphics card. Only the case and Sound Card and HD *survived* Great to hear you did'nt suffer like that. Cheers
