Another idea with better keeping secret information is posting some facts with them to this Forum only. FYI I think I found coincidence cases with the topic problem. Three reported of 5 are in quite near VIN range. This was Paul Lathwell (old MGF) with VIN 500243 Another German with VIN 500718 And today the next German with VIN 502286 All with creak on the bottom of the cowl, located where the bracket is mold to. Other know are all far outside the above VIN range and at different location. Broken due to earlier chassis works. Like Hannah Kim VIN app. 17.000

Very interesting Dieter - i agree looks like a faulty batch as opposed to a fault with all cars.

I think so, faulty batch of dash boards or wrong assembling routine. No idea about logistics with this part. If they do the same as with the front window, then they have stocked parts for three month. Stocked at the factory, or more usual at the supplier as *security stock* or *buffer stock*.
Theoretical estimation. (very hypothetical, of course) Count 200 of needs per week, and may be an average of 1% failures (which would be quite high)..... Then you get app 200 faulty cars in 10 weeks until they improved anything.

Judging by the VIN, it looks as though this corresponds to the move from CAB2 to CAB1? Perhaps they had some assembly problems following the transfer of the line? I wonder if one particular individual fitter could be tracked from the VIN LOL
