Whilst Rob and i were fiddling with the petrol pump on his sister-in-law's Metro the other week, it occurred to us that the interior courtesy light is identical to the light under the bonnet and in the boot of the F. ExceptThe Metro version has a built in switch with three positions, permanently on, permanently off and courtesy. Why is this of interest? Well, Scarlet is on charge in the garage when not in use, this means the bonnet is ajar to allow the charger cables access to the battery. At present, i am disconnecting the plunger switch, but it'd be kinda nice to have an on/off switch on the light itself. Likewise, with the boot light - not sure how useful it'd be but it'd be kinda nice to have the option of turning it off. As an aside, the boot light in the ZT is the same as the F, as is the ZS (and probably the ZR too). Finally, the Metro hasn't been out of production for more than 10 years yet (Rover 100), this means that you can still buy these lights new (indeed i have 3 on order). When they arrive, i'll let you know prices etc and if there are any issues swapping them over.

Nice one Andy - you know that I'm interested in doing this as well ;D But why have you ordered 3 lamps? Or do you have a secret squirrel plan for the third?

Lamp #1 - Under bonnet Lamp #2 - Boot lid Lamp #3 - ZT Boot! But they never turned up - bleedin' Caterpillar! So, i might have to start visiting some scrap yards, and hope they are not too brittle...
