Emerald 'Lite'?

Saw Dave and Karl at the Autosport show. They have a new, no-frills, K2 ECU which is tiny. 65 x 100 x 30 mm, 220 grams. Less than half the size of the M3D. When I saw it I thought it was a piece of promotional material. A kind of toy M3D. Nobody believes its a proper ECU.
Good news is that the price is only £380.00 + VAT including a loom that only requires the correct terminals fitting at the engine end. Doesn't have all the functions of the M3D but more than sufficient features for most people.

I had a good talk with Richard on the stand.
The K2 ECU carries less configuration output/inputs than the latest update to the M3Dk. I have the spec sheets for both at home. The K2 won't provide options to run launch control, VVC/VVTi control, traction control and possibly even immobiliser (whereas currently the M3Dk is compatable with the mems 5AS).
The ECU output plug is aabout 4-5cm in length. It will require the engine loom modified to fit - EU2 & EU3 engines.

Very interesting. Not much use for you Dave, unfortunately, but potentially good for the rest of us!

I know what you mean Dave. To be honest (and I'm sure that a chat with Dave Walker will confirm this one way or the other), there isn't that much point your going the Emerald route unless you're planning on fitting MTBs (which seems unlikely due to the costs involved) - primarily because you've got the fuelling more or less optimised with the FSE (albeit with some overfuelling at full throttle at the lower reaches of the rev range).

500 knicker for what could perhaps amount to 1-2bhp/ 1-2lb.ft at 3500rpm doesn't reak of value for money does it?

Yes, I'm going to be interested to hear what Dave thinks when he sees the fuelling curve. But, as you say, £500 for a few tweaks doesn't sound value for money.

That's certainly true! When I confirm the RR date with DW, do you want me to specifically ask about the lambda probe?

Dave, I spoke to Dave regarding your situation with the VVC. He said that so long as we reminded him at the time that he'd also perform a part-throttle power curve with the Lambda in the tail pipe
