OK Mintex 1177s arent these just a bit too "race tracky"? there seeems to be others similar 1166 etc
I've got me chequebook out and ready but will these 1177 brake pads "work" in day to day town driving? and on normal discs?

Hopefully Paul is able to join us to lend us his point of view, but from mine, the 1177s are perfect. They bite fantastically from cold, and then only proceed to get better.
They truely are awsome pads - and I think that all track-bound MGFs should be fitted with them.
The alternative that are more commonly available are 1166s - but even the 1144s are good aren't they Dave/ Tim?

Yup - 1144s are good. But, now that the price of 1144s has gone up I might be tempted to try 1177s next time. However, there's still the additional disc wear to factor in I suppose.

I have 1155s on Scarlet (rear only) and these are good too. Produce a lot of dust though

The AP 4pots on the front of my car use 1155s - and yes they do create a lot of dust.

Perhaps I should rename this thread the big pad mistake Mintex 1177's are fine and really stop the car ( whilst grinding down the discs) BUT!!!!! SLIDE CITY!!!! I will have to assess the situation next month ( car off the road for work) and consider reverting to brake pads which don't lock up so soon. It really does catch you unawares and takes some getting used to! Perhaps a set of pads/discs for the road and this crazy set up for track days! On the other hand a look into retrofitting ABS systems could be the solution!

If you don't want your 1177s, then I can certainly find them a good home Neil Might I suggest sir try the 1144s? Good initial bite, but ultimately not quite as aggressive as the race spec 1177s. Spotted your thread on the BBS regarding retro-fit of ABS. Possible - but very involved. You might want to have a little chat with Victoria/ Bill at the MGF Centre - I think that these folks who are most likely to be able/willing to help you.
