After three years of using a K&N induction kit on my VVC I fancy a change, what is the best at the moment?.

I'm not sure that there is a definitive answer to your question. Our attempts to compare air filter systems on the rolling road haven't been too conclusive to date.
What does seem to be fairly consistently held though is the superiority of any enclosed air filter that can draw cold air from outside of the engine bay. The 'biggies' in this market are the ITG Maxogen system (probably the most expensive) and then the more recent Taipan/Vader names that have been given to what I think is the same system, though who actually makes it I don't know.
Compared to this Rob Bell's Rover 820 airbox enclosure of a K&N is cheap and cheeful, but probably almost as effective.
In all cases, the air feeds to the enclosure are routed to the air intake on the passenger (RHD) side where they 'suck' fairly static air in reasonably effectively. This would seem to be where the advantage appears over an unenclosed K&N.

Dave. Thanks for that, I have been looking at a Piper X enclosed system, inother words the same as Rob's but more expensive!.
