Will those temporary exhaust leak kits work?
You wrap them round holes in the exhaust pipe as a temp fix.
Or possibly some of the exhaust heat wrap insulation wrapped round the flexi?
Have a look in Halfords etc.

Jeepers Kingsley - when will the bad luck let up? Unfortunately, I don't think that you can bodge a repair. It'll need replacing (although you could always temporarily fit a rigid section of pipe to replace the broken flexi). Did your manifold come via PTP in Hinkley? Might be time to get on the blower to source a replacement FOC and perhaps even get some Quik Fit grease monkeys to fit it for you?

I can confirm that any kind of patch is pretty unsuccessful to a flexipipe This is the one thing which always bothers me with a 4-2-1. Is the flexi portion replacable without removing the whole manifold? Anyway I really hope you manage to get it fixed for silverstone. Tim

This was one of the questions I raised with phoenix when I spoke to them. There is still a bit of a question mark over Phoenix producing a 4-2-1, there many consern is volume..... for a dozen individuals it isn't really cost effective but for 50 it may be. I did speak to www.Powerspeed.co.uk and the chap there (another Dave) said that they could easily provide a replacement flexi portion, so any future replacement would cost 20 quid or so.

Good luck Kingsley! Tim, I spoke to Victoria about the manifold today (funnily enough) - they've got Phoenix working busily on their roll hoop design - but a Phoenix designed 4-2-1 manifold should be coming out, even if that involves Victoria pestering them continuously! Market wise - okay, they're not exactly going to be flying off the shelves, but there is increasing market awareness of product now what with X-Power retailing the Janspeed system. Plus there is always the Elise market you can sell too - and if you also factor in manifolds for FWD MGs (albeit with a different exit pipe design), then surely there is a compelling case for manufacture? How much were Powerspeed thinking of selling manifolds for Tim? Cheapest Janspeed system that I've seen mentioned was the Janspeed from Lotus dealer, Sinclair's: 389 notes.

IIRC the Janspeed/X-Power/Mike Satur 4:2:1 manifold comes with a seperate flexi section - so it should be easy to replace (and cheap too).

Kingsley,
Any word from the supplier on the failure?
Exactly how long & how many miles has this part done?

Where's it going - Hong Kong? There must be a mistake - have you shopped around the couriers? Also, try asking the supplier what they can do to help to reduce the timeframe. How about they send a replacement straight away rather than wait for your old one to arrive. If they don't trust you as a 'valued customer' you could offer to give them your credit card number, so that they can bill you if you fail to send in the old one. Keep pushiing them. Tell them you've spent a lot of money on a trackday and if they can't help you your going to miss out.
