Still undecided at the moment about which brakes although it is unlikely to be AP because of using original VVC wheels for playing and multispokes for leisure.
However before worrying about that I had to put all the original induction system back in for the warranty inspector recently and I noticed that a brake pipe on the near side of the engine compartment against the bulkhead appeared corroded. The rest of the pipe appears in good condition but the corrosion is around a bend. Getting to the questions, has anyone experienced this sort of corrosion and would it be acceptable to replace a section of pipe?

Confused. Are there any brake pipes in the engine compartment? Honestly i can't remember, but what there is in this area are fuel pipes (small diameter copper pipes), could it be one of those?

Let me know how you get on with that Bob. I had some problems last year trying to find appropriate pads for the F, but the situation may have improved since I last looked Not sure which was the best compound though Bob - can you remember which ones the Elise boys were recommending? Pagids for the MGF here www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pl.asp?Vehicle=MG__F01&PartType=BRP02

Yes, I spotted these when I was compiling the MGF Register Handbook suppliers & resources list (still in draft so all nominations welcome). I'd be interested to know what they are like. They're cheap!

Getting to the questions, has anyone experienced this sort of corrosion and would it be acceptable to replace a section of pipe? Have you seen the recent BBS thread regarding Lotus Elise S1? These cars share the SAME hub as the MGF, complete with PCD. That means a ready supply of both standard and uprated discs (albeit at Lotus inflated prices). They fit under 15" rims too. The calipers are unlikely to fit though - which is unfortunate. But perhaps you could source HiSpec replacements? Regarding the brake pipe - yes, I've heard a couple of cases recently where corrosion has affected brake pipes - and one complete brake failure occurring as a consequence! Might be a good case for replacement sooner rather than later. No copper brake kits available yet for the MGF - but I guess that is only going to be a matter of time... Bob, thanks for the Need for Speed link - I'll check it out! ;D

Doesn't appear to be much choice regarding pagid pad compounds - and only for the front brake But yes, quite a bit available - will have to take some time and investigate further!

So, is the Need For Speed product the black RS4-2-1? Hard to tell. I'm sure the product code on the NFS website doesnt relate to the PAGID code itself. Strangely the PAGID website doesnt list MG under it's application list?

Oops. Had a quick look at the manual last night and a brake pipe looks unlikely. Cheers Andy You can tell I was in a bit of a rush for the warranty man's arrival

Rob, I have looked at the site to fit the servo support bracket But I havent had the courage to pull everything apart in the cabin as I have a/c and think the bolts that go through to the bulkhead might have a problem with the said unit.

Welcome to the Knitting Circle Andrew! Hmm - you're right about the aircon. Unfortunately, I have no experience with cars fitted with aircon, so I can't really advise - what I'd suggest though is removal of the glove box and see what lies behind there. Hopefully the air duct to the heater box is the same as on non-airconditioned models, allowing you to remove the duct to visualise the inside of the bulkhead in the right area. I'll be very interested to hear how you get on with this - and any pictures that can be added to the site would be very much appreciated
